Hey Everybuddy, It's me Ernie. We're back. We went to the country for a few days. This post is pretty much picture free. M forgot to charge the battery in the camera & forgot to bring the charger. So all the fun we had, the holes we dug, the critters we chased was all for nothing. M & D couldn't even get a pic of the Bald Eagle they saw. We heard them saying how beautiful & big it was & how it circled looking for food. M figures those pics are stored in memories. Not sure how well that works. Sasha stayed home with Grandma to keep her company. The 3 Mexicans & I got to go. Their first time at the cabin. They seemed to like it, but always had to be on a leash because of wild critters & such.
Barking of wild critters...... We didn't see them but we think we smelled them. A hooman came to the cabin & showed pics of what they saw many times. They sent M pics. They saw bears - a black bear, a brown bear, and a Mama or Sow with 3 cubs or babies. Sounded like they were just outside our fence. Never did see them but just the same our hoomans started watching us even closer that usual. The bears didn't seem afraid of anything - just ambled along checking out ant hills & eating the larvae.
Some other friends of M & D's also saw bears down by the creek & climbing over a fence.
Mom here. The bears looked to be about 150 - 200 pounds. Not something I would like to see too up close or personal. We are going up again & believe me I won't make the same mistake of not being able to charge the camera battery & take pics. Ernie had dug a hole that he could get in up to his shoulders. Chica went it to check it out & the hole was much bigger than she was.
Thank you everyone for voting for PUP in the Shelter Challenge. We were really gaining ground then for some reason groups started passing us up. We went from over 6% to just a bit over 3%. You have all helped a bunch & we appreciate all voting you do. We are not giving up but the top group in WA has over 17% of the vote. Still trying!!!! Thanks!!!

ReplyDeleteI think your get away trip sounded awsome. Even though you did not have a camera, I can imagine everything you said. I imagine the deep deep holes and all the digging and I know that air must have smelled so good. Its a good thing M&D kept a close eye on all of you. I don't think it would be fun to have to snuggle with a teddy bear.
I bet the Eagles was awsome. At least all those cool rememberences are stored in your M&D memory- just like your mom said.
My mommy has problems with batterys too. Silly batteries.

WOW. I only saw some bears when I was in Alaska. Those would skeer me!!

We have heard of a lot of bear sightings where we live, but we have never seen one. Mom is always on the lookout.

It rilly do be kewl to see a bear in real life but not too close up and pawsonal - a respectabull distance be good coz they be rilly big!

We don't have any bears in our woods, but we have coyotes. They make a lot of noise and as soon as we hear them we run for the house. Then we bark at them thru the windows.

Woo - we have lots and lots of those teddy bears around here. They are not, repeat not, cuddly. Just saying.

ReplyDeletewe went over to the forest in idaho, but we didn't see any bears. we saw deers and we saw our cousin, Kara, and our grandpop.

We live in CT and there have been black bears spotted in town. Mom thinks it would be neat to see one in our yard, but Otis and I think she is crazy! We already have enough visitors - ducks, foxes, deer, wild turkeys, woodchucks and coyotes . Seems like they all enjoy stopping at our pond.
