Scary Sat, Ernie & jail partner-Sissie

AS you can see I am behind bars.  M says it is for my own good butt I am not so sure about that.  One good thing is they did give me one of my bff to stay with me sometimes.  Sasha is good company. She doesn't stay with me all the time but I like it when she is near.

They also put up bars across the LR to keep me quiet.  AND so I wouldn't have to be in the crate jail all the time.  M wanted to get a pic of me using Sasha's bed and her using mine.  That didn't work - maybe another day. I admit it is nicer having company in jail.  Don't worry -- Sasha doesn't stay in there all the time. Mainly bedtime.

Congrats to Sissie.  She went to her forever home Monday.  She has a wonderful Mom who loved her the minute she saw her on PetFinder.  Then even before she came to meet Sissie she went SHOPPING and bought crate, bed, toys, treats etc.  She was so excited and Sissie settled right in with her.  So happy for them both.  Sissie is going to be so LOVED.
We had some excitement just as M & D were taking Sissie to her Meet N Greet with her potential adopter.  It was SCARY!!   D was going out the front door and Missy, Rosie, AND Lucas took off running.  Never have they tried THAT before!!!  M quickly grabbed the keys from D and took off in the car.  A neighbor was driving by and M stopped them to ask if they had seen which direction the 3 little ones went.  WELL, good news is they had AND they offered to help.  It was a good thing.  Long story short - The little ones were so scared it was hard to catch them but with the neighbors help M got Lucas and then Rosie.  Missy took off the other direction and this is the good news.... she headed straight for our house and as soon as D opened the screen door... she ran right in!!! What a relief.  Thought M was going to have a heart attack or something!! Mom was so happy that neighbor came along to help - she almost climbed into the car to give them all hugs when all pups were safe...:-)

It is quieter around her now with just the 5 of us and 1 foster - Missy.  Haven't figured out yet why no one has chosen her.  She is happy, easy to keep, house and crate trained.  Soon maybe the right person will come along.

Yay Sicily & other news

Yay Sicily!!! Saturday Sicily or Sissy as we called her was ADOPTED!   Her new family seemed very happy with her and she with them.  So happy for her!!! Finally a home of her own.  She went for a walk with her new owner who was very happy and who thought Sissy walked great on the leash!!  Love ya Sissy!

Our newest foster... Sissie - Can you believe she came to us with almost the same name.  No wonder M gets confused sometimes.  She weighs about 3.5 .lbs and is  about 1.5 yrs.  She is very sweet and can you believe she likes all of us. (we like her too)   Her little tail just wags and wags and she follows M all over.  Really likes to cuddle.  She is way too skinny so she gets fed more often than the rest of us.   ... So NOT fair.  We could use more food at least in our opinion.  Also heard M say she could be a keeper!!!   Of course, she says that a lot about all of the foster or house guests we get.

Thanks Chica  for taking over the 1st part of the post.  Mom here with an update about Ernie.  We took him to the vet and they took more xrays. His strain is now a tear and he is going to have surgery on April 5.  He was doing well but it is hard to keep a fun loving, liking to run dog slowed down.  He went around the corner from the dining room onto the kitchen floor and slipped.  Guess that's what did it.  He's on Rimadyl and Tramadol.  He doesn't like being set apart from the rest of us sooooo - we closed off the living room with an ex pen and put Sasha's bed in there with him and his crate.  It seems to be working better.  Sasha goes into his crate and sleeps and he sleeps on her bed.  Thanks for all your good thoughts and paws crossed.  Have to admit I am not looking forward to having to keep him quiet a whole lot longer.  He's not going to be very happy.  It will work out.
I saw this picture from a while ago in better days  of Sasha and Ernie.  They looked so happy.  Her with her big happy lab smile and him with his favorite squeaky toy. Have a great week.  :-)

Our Yard is nekked....

This tree was beautiful and huge!!!!.  One of M & D's kids brought this home as a little seedling a bunch of years ago.  Long before my time.  It just got too big and the wind was hard on it.  It was very close to the neighbors.

The tree people made quick work of trimming off the long branches.  Mom didn't get the camera out soon enough to take more of the in between shots.

THEN the day after they finished with the tree.  The roofers came and took the old roof of the shed.  The big winds had torn off many shingles.

The roofers were furry busy for a while.  We heard them laughing and teasing about the BIG job.

5 people showed up to do the roof.  They joked about it BUT they got it done in record time and it looked beautiful!!!

A couple of the men went and sat in the truck to eat lunch while the others finished up.

The back yard is VERY sunny now when the sun does come out.  Oh yes, 2 trees were taken out of the front of the house.   It gets very bright in the house now with them gone.  Mom misses them but they were very old and the roots were doing bad things to the sewer.

Mom is not sure what to do with all the space now.  She is reading and looking at landscaping books.
Ernie is at the vet getting x-rayed and the vet is trying to figure what is the best  way to handle his knee.  Especially since his hips have somebody caller arthur itis hanging out there.  Should know more a bit later this afternoon.

Bless the 2 & 4 legged kids...

It's Mom and I found a poem I thought I would like to share.  I believe that through the eyes and lives of our 4 legged furiends and our 2 legged children if we have them, we can learn to look and see the wonder in things and learn to enjoy the simple things.  We now have 5  4 legged furiends in our family.  Thalia (now known as Rosie) belongs to GG who lives with us.  Rosie is between 5 and  6 years old.  She was in our rescue organization for almost a year.  Haven't figured out why no one wanted her.  She is very sweet and happy.  GG said if no one took her she would keep her.  So - Rosie is now part of our family.

Chica keeping her ears warm and doing her impression of ??? - haven't figured it out yet.  Any ideas?

Sasha welcoming Rosie to the family.  Guess she passed inspection.  Sweet Sasha will soon be 12 years old and is doing quite well.   Yay!

Chica and Lucas playing tug of war.

Sasha enjoying the bit of snow we got.  It didn' last long but was beautiful while it did.

Lucas on the trail of something.  Must have been interesting cuz he followed it quite a while.

Ernie - Bless his heart.  Still dealing with the sore leg.  He is such a trooper - no complaints.  I can tell he wants to run and twirl and chase.  He sees the vet again next week.  It looks like time didn't do the job of healing we thought it might so he is probably looking at surgery.  Please keep good thoughts for him. Thank you!

Through the Eyes of Children
When I look at a patch of dandelions, I see a bunch of weeds that are going to take over my yard.
My kids see flowers for Mom and blowing white fluff you can wish on.

When I look at an old drunk and he smiles at me, I see a smelly, dirty person who probably wants money and I look away.
My kids see someone smiling at them and they smile back.

When I hear music I love, I know I can't carry a tune and don't have much rhythm so I sit self-consciously and listen.
My kids feel the beat and move to it. They sing out the words. If they don't know them, they make up their own.

When I feel wind on my face, I brace myself against it. I feel it messing up my hair and pulling me back when I walk.
My kids close their eyes, spread their arms and fly with it, until they fall to the ground laughing.

When I pray, I say thee and thou and grant me this, give me that.
My kids say, "Hi God! Thanks for my toys and my friends. Please keep the bad dreams away tonight. Sorry, I don't want to go to Heaven yet. I would miss my Mommy and Daddy."

When I see a mud puddle I step around it. I see muddy shoes and dirty carpets.
My kids sit in it. They see dams to build, rivers to cross, and worms to play with.

I wonder if we are given kids to teach or to learn from? No wonder God loves the little children!

Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

Have a good rest of the week.  Thanks for visiting us!!

Hugs

Hugs are good.  We decree this "National Hug Day".  It is wet and rainy and windy here today.  So what better to do than stay inside warm, dry, and share a few hugs.  :-)

Everybody needs a hug. It changes your metabolism.

We are ready for more walks and outside fun!!
Real Spring and Sun would be good too!
