This N That

Hi everybuddy, We have been busy - lots of stuff happening. 1st - Sasha sure does know how to rest. M took her for a walk. She had fun but spent the rest of the afternoon napping n resting her feets. After Sasha's walk M took me and Chica & met up with our furiend Sammy & his folks. Went to one of our fave places.....Lincoln Park.
Many good sniffs & sunshine. Saw lots of people & other pups. Some of the people must have been having a bad day cuz they didn't look or seem very happy.
Sasha loves pups but I think she might have been getting a bit tired of the tiny pests.
This is Shane. M says he is a sweetie & cuddlebug - whatever that is. Anyhow we was just taking care of him until his new foster mom could pick him up. He went to his new foster home last night. He is a Manchester Terrier. Hope he finds a new home soon.
Shane really loved Sasha, Chica & even me. I let him follow me around and sniff. Maybe he learned some about being "grown up"
Here is Roo. GREAT NEWS!!! On Saturday she was adopted by some people who really were excited to meet her. She has a new name "Hera" from Greek Mythology. M is not sure but she thought the man said it was the name of Hercules' wife. Mom saw an email from them & they are very tickled & loving her SOOOOO much. Way to go Roo. They thought she was/is beautifulll. She even has a Chi brother now. He is named Jack. Little June (aka JuneBug) was also adopted on Saturday. A very nice couple was very excited & took the time to overcome Junies shyness. Soon they had her eating out of their hands. Quite a feat - according to M. She is slow to warm up but it doesn't take long. Not sure if she had a name change but the girl person was looking forward to knitting her a sweater.
Saturdays Adoption Event for PUP was FANTASTIC! 19 dogs a couple of cats & possible 3 or 4 more adoptions. Their applications were being reviewed.
Hi, Mom here. This is the first time in 9 months we are without a foster or 2 or 3. Kind of nice BUT QUIET. On Wednesday, Remy is coming to stay for about 11 days while his parents go hiking & mountain climbing. Since Remy's knee surgery he can't do some of the things like that he used to. We will keep him entertained. His Mom thinks of this as his other home & me as his other Mom - after her of course.
Oh and cousin Murphy is coming with his parents for a couple of day on Sunday. Haven't seen him for a while.
In a couple of weeks, unless he gets adopted before that, PB will be coming to stay until he finds his forever home. He looks a bit like a small yellow Lab.
Have a great week.

Finally back home!

Hi all our furiends, We're back after a couple of weeks in the country. It was fun & we got to explore, chase chipmunks & squirrels. Of course the 3 little Mexicans (or Chi's) had to stay on leashes even if they were 20' long ones. They chased more bugs & butterflies & tried to catch them & dragonflies. M was tired & layed down & look who joined her. They didn't leave any room for me. Later M said it felt like she had a blanket on. They kept her warm. M doesn't like to have her pic taken but D snuck this one in. Roo is on the couch, Chica is curled around M's neck, & June is laying on M's hip. She is only about 7 lbs & is a real sweetie. When we got her a couple of weeks ago she was very frightened & she actually snapped & pulled away from M. Now she dances, follows M around & has definitely warmed up to all of us.
Do you know who this is??? This is Chica playing kill the rope. She shakes this so hard that sometimes she knocks herself off her feet to her knees. M hopes she doesn't give herself a whiplash or something.
It was realllllly hot. I was playing in my big water dish. The water from the well is very cold. But sure feels & tastes good. Even June liked to drink from it. She had trouble getting to the water so M picked her up & put her in it. She didn't mind one bit. Who knows if it was deeper she might even have learned to swim....
This little guy spent a lot of time hanging out in this tree. It was next to our water bowl. You know the big blue one.
He's getting ready to go into the water. We saw him in it but didn't have the camera ready. M did get a video clip of him walking on the edge of it BUT then I saw him & scared him off. He is FAST. He was up that tree in no time - I almost had him though.
Missed him. Maybe next time.
The girls in the "circus wagon" - Roo, Chica, & June
This white & black butterfly must have been thirsty. I didn't smell anything but we heard that they were called skunk butterflies. That person must have been pulling our legs.
Taking a rest. It was hot & "pulling" & posing with the circus wagon is hard work. Actually I didn't do any pulling - I just pretended.
Here I am patiently waiting for the squirrels. I know they are all around us.
The yellow butterfly seemed to like the yellow flowers.
M liked this dandelion puffball next to the nurse log.
Because of eagles & hawks & coyotes & other critters the girls had to be either on a leash with M & walking or in this wagon when they were outside. The green shade cloth really helped them stay cooler in the heat & with the circus wagon they could be pulled into the shade.
I am watching over the little ones. It would be more fun if they could run & chase with me.
M & D were gone for awhile cuz they went for a ride in the Rhino ( no not the big animal - this has 4 wheels). Anyhow they saw some horses & M took pics of them for K the biped grandaughter who loves horses.
These 3 horses really stayed close to each other. The one in the middle was smaller. M says she didn't look really close but she thought maybe they were a family.
M went crazy with the flashy thing & the horses. Think she is going to printoff these & the other ones she took & send them to K.
This one seemed very friendly. M wished she had something she could have given them. The black one actually came up & "herded" the brown one away from the fence. Kinda pushy. We had a fun time but came home to get ready for an Adoption Event on Saturday. June & John (who is with another foster family now) both have meetings with potential adopters. Hope things work out for them.
The Shelter Challenge is over. We finished in 5th place in WA, which is pretty good when one thinks about the number of shelters. Would have been nice to have been 1st but that is the way it goes sometimes. Thank you all who helped us with the voting!!!!
Roo is still needing a home. She is a real sweetie but M thinks sometimes people don't see past her deformed elbow. She has been with us 4 months. We think she thinks she is home.
Don't know if you remember Remy. He is our friendthe Australian Cattle Dog who had surgery on both his knees. He is doing OK & he might come to visit us for a few days. Will let you know.
Enjoy the weekend...

Transport etc

Hi it's me Ernie. I has been away only because my dogly assistant has been too busy to help me with this. Some excuse. I tell her this should be first to be done. She musta heard blah, blah, blah. Maybe she was ignoring my pleas???? Sasha was having fun with her rope chew. I thought she looked kinda sad . When we were gone for a few days she stayed with GG cuz they are both gettin' older & they keep each other companies. Wish we took her with us, she likes it there. She has trouble getting in & out of the truck.
We love to eat & we were really hungry & we could hardly wait for M to put the dishes down. Notice how close we all are. M says we are good "kids" - not fighting or arguing over our food. I think we lined up real good - Sasha, Ernie, then Roo, John & Chica in the back. We were too busy eating to pose.
M & D did a transport on Saturday 8/7/10. There were 11 pups in the crates. 5 of them were babies. Sooo cute!!! We now have June who is a 2 yr old Chihuahua. She had 4 puppies before she was spayed & came up here. She is tiny - only about 7#. She was very fearful but is coming around. She even played with us today. June is in the crate on the top right I think. M will be getting better pics of June. All of the pups in the crates went into great foster homes until they can be adopted.
John didn't get adopted becuz he and the 2 dogs he would be living with didn't much care for each other & they all growled. John liked it too much with us & they said he was getting too bonded & stuff so now he is staying with another foster family & their dogs. We miss him but M is thinking it might be better for him. A fresh start.
Have a fun weekend. It is going to be hot here.

A Walk in the Park

Hey everybuddy, It's me Chica here ( sometimes I am called Miss Stinkin' Cute). Anyways, Ernie is taking the day off. Maybe his feelings got hurt cuz he didn't get to go on this adventure. Sammy's Mom & Dad invited us to go with them for a long walk. Becuz we were going with them in their car, Mom only took me & our foster pup John. We are following Sammy's Dad. He looks kinda ghosty in the bright sun. M liked the butt shots. I guess she thinks we have cute butts.
We found a stream & it was clear & cool. We was very thirsty. M doesn't usually let us drink but we musta caught her off her guard. She had & always carries water for us. We were very fast....
We went under a big bridge. People had painted designs.
We found LOTS of these little people. They had some bigger people with them - think they were directing traffic or something. They were having fun & making lots of noise. We asked them what they was doing. They were playing a game & trying to find the flag. We never did see any flag. Hope someone found it.
It was very pretty, & peaceful (when we got past the kids). We never had seen so many peoples (big or little) here before. They were having almost as much fun as us.
I had to keep looking back to see if every one was coming. I know, I know, why wouldn't they be cuz I had M on a leash. But it's good to keep an eye out & check on things. John was totally interested in what was out in front of us.
More water to cool our little feets. We sure liked that part of the adventure.
Sammy - what a poser!! WE found this HUGE animal. Sammy jumped right up & into its mouth. What big teeth!! He wasn't scared at all.
Sammy's Mom checked it out. You know what..... It was only a BIG LOG that someone had painted to look like a Alligator.
We are still in the running for the Shelter Challenge. Still in 5th place. But at least we are not dropping too far back. Thank you all for helping us with the voting. The Challenge lasts until Aug. 22. At the very least every click helps give food to shelter animals. That is a good thing.
Keep your paws crossed. John & a couple of other fosters have a meeting with a potential adopter tomorrow. M & D hope it goes well for him. He really deserves a family of his own. BUT we are really getting used to him being here. We have lots of fun together. Still hoping to find a home for Roo.
Have a great week.
