| This tree was beautiful and huge!!!!. One of M & D's kids brought this home as a little seedling a bunch of years ago. Long before my time. It just got too big and the wind was hard on it. It was very close to the neighbors. |

| The tree people made quick work of trimming off the long branches. Mom didn't get the camera out soon enough to take more of the in between shots. |

| THEN the day after they finished with the tree. The roofers came and took the old roof of the shed. The big winds had torn off many shingles. |

| The roofers were furry busy for a while. We heard them laughing and teasing about the BIG job. |

| 5 people showed up to do the roof. They joked about it BUT they got it done in record time and it looked beautiful!!! |

| A couple of the men went and sat in the truck to eat lunch while the others finished up. |

The back yard is VERY sunny now when the sun does come out. Oh yes, 2 trees were taken out of the front of the house. It gets very bright in the house now with them gone. Mom misses them but they were very old and the roots were doing bad things to the sewer.
Mom is not sure what to do with all the space now. She is reading and looking at landscaping books.
Ernie is at the vet getting x-rayed and the vet is trying to figure what is the best way to handle his knee. Especially since his hips have somebody caller arthur itis hanging out there. Should know more a bit later this afternoon.

ReplyDeleteToo bad the trees had to go, but better to be safe than have them come crashing down on the house. It will be fun to watch some new plants grow. That is as long as they aren't in our backyard - they don't stand a chance. BOL.

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful majestic tree. We mourn it passing. We have a huge mulberry in the yard that must come down as well. Momma has avoided it because it is such an incredible being but it is sick in its heartwood and it is time.

All those worker bees sure got all that work done fast didn't they? We also had a tree who's roots were going into the septic, and so the trees had to come down with mommys chain saw. I know how you feel about it being sad, but yes, it needed to be done. The tree knows you were thankful for the many years of sheltering shade it provided.

You have lots more light with the trees gone, it is a shame but sometimes you just have to do it.

Hi everybody, we had some peoples come over to last year to take out a birch tree that had been badly damaged by bugs and storms. I'm not sure if my mom and dad will replant another tree. We're concerned about Ernie. Surgery is something to be very carefully considered. Probability of success and the long period of rehabilitation are all important considerations. My angel uncle alternated each weekend between acupuncture and swimming when his cranial cruciate ligament broke instead of surgery for the last few years. We're not advocating that you do this instead. Our vet felt that in Max's case, that surgery was the "last option". With me, my vet is concerned about arthritis long-term too so I'm taking a teaspoon every morning of some stuff called Bio-Iso-G (http://www.drugs.com/vet/canine-corta-flx-bio-iso-g-solution-can.html) It's got glucosamine and MSM which is supposed to help with arthritis. You have to get it through your vet. It's about $180 CDN for the large size but lasts a long time because you're only doing a squirt (teaspoon) a day into food. Whatever happens, we know that Ernie will get the best treatment for Ernie.

Oh, bummer about the trees. At least I hope they made sumpin out of them and did not just throw them away. Hope efurrything be OK with you Ernie!
ReplyDeleteSunshine's not a bad trade. It always makes me a little sad when a tree goes away. One less place for the SQ's to stay ;) It will be fun though to find some new bushes/trees/whatever to plant in their place though :D
