Our friend Remy

We received an email from our friend Remy's Mom.  Please keep good thoughts & paws crossed for him as he goes into surgery.

Remy is not getting better from his torn ACL's and his Mom & Dad decided they needed to pursue ACL reconstruction surgery for him. He is going in for surgery tomorrow. There is approximately a 10 week recovery period and then they will take him back for surgery again for his other hind leg. That means he will be out of commission for approximately 20 weeks. We are going to miss him and he won't  be able to go for a walk with us. He is a very  important member of his family and they want to help him all they can.   He is starting to get arthritis, which is something the doctor did not tell them. Anyway, please send him your good thoughts for a speedy recovery.  He is a sweetie and we really like him & have fun with
him.

Love you Remy friend.
Paws crossed for him.
Ernie & Sasha

Mom saw this quote the other day & it stuck with her.  Something to think about.
If all the beasts were gone, men would die from a great loneliness of spirit, for whatever happens to the beasts also happens to the man. All things are connected. Whatever befalls the Earth befalls the sons of the Earth. ~Chief Seattle of the Suquamish Tribe, letter to President Franklin Pierce

  2. Dear Remy (and parents),
Here is hoping and wishing the fastest recovery ever. I hope the time just flies by. Just don't start watching the soap operas because you'll get hooked and you'll start planning your days around who is bold and who is beautiful!

  8. We have our paws crossed for Remy's recovery. We like the quote your Mom posted. Living with a pack of dogs and a couple of birds, she feels very much a part of the entire animal kingdom. We all need each other.

  9. Good luck to Remy and a speedy recovery! Darwin's dane friend Georgia just had her knee fixed and she's been out of commission for a while, but healing nicely! Just think, it's better for him to do it now in the winter when its rainy and yucky out rather than in the summer when the dogs want to play in the sun! Why is he doing 2 knees at different times?

  11. Remy will be receiving all of my strongest pawsitive thoughts and healing wishes! He is such a cute doggy and looks like a lot of fun. I know you will miss him on your walks but just keep thinking of the day when he will once again be joining you. Thank you for sharing his story! I know he will do great! My paws are crossed for you Remy!

That is a wonderful saying from Chief Seattle. My human has been carrying that around for years and tries to share it as often as possible. Thank you for posting it.

  14. I've got my paws crossed for dear Remy. Just saw your comment on Draco's blog - you said you'd like to make some new friends:)

Your mom's right - that saying says it all. There'd be no point living in this world if there were no birds or beasts - just the humans - and it doesn't really help conjure a pretty picture.

I hope that Remy will be fine and back with you soon:)
